Pre-School (Aged 3 to 5)
Pre-school English (K1 to K3)
Our pre-school courses nurture a child’s inborn curiosity and excitement in learning. Children would gradually develop their abilities and skills in phonics, reading and writing, alongside a blooming creativity and imagination.
Kindergarten, a word invented by famous German educator Froebel, means play and activities. Froebel believed in the unique needs of pre-school students. The importance of play and well-designed activities has been advocated by later educators like Jean Piaget and now i-Learner’s teachers.
Pre-school education at i-Learner embodies a six level pre-school language curriculum focusing on the child’s cognitive development. Motor, social and psychological skill development is also encouraged through the carefully designed activities.
The curriculum builds heavily on games, phonics, storytelling, reading and writing. Our integrated approach aims at training children to be competent in language as well as to become curious, creative and imaginative learners.
Last but not least, we believe that kindergarten is a crucial period for a child’s personal development. Therefore, self, love, care and being a global citizen are the core values of our programme.
The curriculum includes six levels:
- K1 – The Busy Bees — Letter literacy
- K1 to K2 – The Cheeky Monkeys — Phonics and word recognition
- K2 – The Talkative Tigers — Phonics, reading and speaking
- K2 to K3 – The Polite Penguins – Reading
- K3 – The Clever Camels — Reading and guided writing
- K3 to P1 – The Growing Giraffes – Reading, writing and presenting

Trinity certificates are recognized worldwide by academic institutions, companies and professional organizations. Its graded examinations can be corresponded to the Common European Framework. i-Learner is a Trinity exam centre. i-Learner students can take Trinity Exams at the i-Learner Education Centre.
Integrated Skills in English (ISE)
ISE examinations test all four language skills — speaking, writing, listening and reading. They are available at five key levels which are linked to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The assessment is about how the four skills integrate with each other. In the real world of communication we generally use all these skills together, for example, taking notes as we talk on the phone or listen to a lecture, or giving a presentation where we write on the board at the same time as talking and responding to our audience.
