I believe that having a good imagination is a key skill for anyone to possess\u00a0in modern society. With so many new challenges and opportunities facing young people today that didn&#8217;t exist previously being able to think creatively and imaginatively puts one at a great advantage. No matter what field of study or work a young people\u00a0might go into there is bound to be novel technology and new breakthroughs awaiting them. These demand the ability the think creatively in dynamic situations. These skills are learned at a young age through story writing and other activities which are used to craft and develop new ideas and thought processes.<\/p>\n<p>At i-Learner even our youngest students are exposed to interesting engaging stories to nurture their budding imaginations. I always enjoy quizzing students on their thoughts just after finishing a book. What do they think happens next? Who really came out on top? Or does the story really finish happily ever after? Asking questions like these often\u00a0elicits\u00a0unexpected answers and students commonly\u00a0surprise\u00a0you with their responses. I find even the young kindergartners can speculate on the endings of stories and this I feel is vital for their development.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve picked some examples of my students&#8217; work to share with you. These are examples of when the student was asked to think creatively and produce some writing or fictional work from a prompt.<\/p>\n<div id='gallery-1' class='gallery galleryid-8939 gallery-columns-3 gallery-size-thumbnail'><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon portrait'>\n\t\t\t\t<a href='https:\/\/www.i-learner.edu.hk\/zh\/2016\/02\/teacher-diary-mr-macdonald\/20160216184901914_0002\/'><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/www.i-learner.edu.hk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/20160216184901914_0002-150x150.jpg\" class=\"attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail\" alt=\"\" aria-describedby=\"gallery-1-8940\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<figcaption class='wp-caption-text gallery-caption' id='gallery-1-8940'>\n\t\t\t\tThis student was asked to produce a comic where he wakes up one day but something is missing. It is titled &#8216;The Colourless Day&#8217; and as you may have guessed the thing which was missing happened to be all the colour in the world. This was quite unexpected but very welcome.\n\t\t\t\t<\/figcaption><\/figure><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon portrait'>\n\t\t\t\t<a href='https:\/\/www.i-learner.edu.hk\/zh\/2016\/02\/teacher-diary-mr-macdonald\/20160216184901914_0001\/'><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/www.i-learner.edu.hk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/20160216184901914_0001-150x150.jpg\" class=\"attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail\" alt=\"\" aria-describedby=\"gallery-1-8941\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<figcaption class='wp-caption-text gallery-caption' id='gallery-1-8941'>\n\t\t\t\tInspiration can come from many different places. This student loves watching TV programmes about cars. When students have interests they are very passionate about they can use their passions to improve their writing and come up with ideas other students might not necessarily come up with themselves.\n\t\t\t\t<\/figcaption><\/figure><figure class='gallery-item'>\n\t\t\t<div class='gallery-icon portrait'>\n\t\t\t\t<a href='https:\/\/www.i-learner.edu.hk\/zh\/2016\/02\/teacher-diary-mr-macdonald\/img_20160222_163053\/'><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"https:\/\/www.i-learner.edu.hk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/IMG_20160222_163053-150x150.jpg\" class=\"attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail\" alt=\"\" aria-describedby=\"gallery-1-8953\" \/><\/a>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<figcaption class='wp-caption-text gallery-caption' id='gallery-1-8953'>\n\t\t\t\tThis is a page from a Kindergarten workbook. This student is clearly a young foodie.
