Voyage (International Stream: Pre IB, Pre IGCSE, SSAT)

Course Description

Our Voyage courses have been especially designed for all S1-3 students to reach their maximum potential and excel at English language and literature.

Our Voyage courses include Pre-DSE Foundation, Pre-DSE Distinction and International Stream: Pre IB, Pre IGCSE, SSAT.

These carefully designed courses ensure that all students can build a strong foundation and consolidate essential skills, such as linguistic understanding, self-expression and critical thinking, before they move on to tackle more complex materials in preparation for international and local examinations, and boarding school admissions.

Core Skills

Voyage courses are comprised of a Core Skills programme and a series of Electives for specialisation. In the first term, students attend Core Skills classes which are focused on improving students’ critical thinking, communication skills and fundamental understanding of English. Students are exposed to a range of different texts and tasks, including unseen analysis, grammar review and presentation techniques. The materials are designed to address the common gaps that students show in their English skills at this stage and encourage them to expand their knowledge base.

Streams

In the second and third terms, students choose between three different specialisations: the International Stream, Pre-DSE Distinction or the Pre-DSE Foundation. Students work towards their individual targets and focus on the skills needed to excel in their chosen examinations.

Students in the international stream will focus more on literary and linguistic analysis, critical thinking, self-expression, and presentation skills, which are all essential preparation for international studies, boarding school admissions and the MYP of the International Baccalaureate.
