Maria Kostylew

Maria Kostylew

The most important aspect of teaching is to engage students in what they’re learning; hence, I show my students how the material we study fits into wider contexts and how to make connections between different areas of knowledge. I also believe every student needs an individual approach; I, therefore, always adapt my teaching style to the student’s individual needs.

Maria Kostylew has wide-ranging interests, which have led her to take up a master’s degree in International Political Theory at St Andrews after completing her undergraduate studies in English at Oxford. She has extensive experience teaching ESL students, having taught English Literature and Music to students of different ages at Beijing Royal School as well as tutoring one-on-one in reading comprehension. Additionally, she has regularly participated in Open Days at Oxford University, giving prospective students advice on personal statements, interviews and other aspects of their applications. She has also taught French GCSE and British Parliamentary debating and looks forward to sharing more of her skills and interests with students in future.
