Teacher Diaries: Ms. Willow – Celebration
TweetCelebrating Books
It’s World Book Day tomorrow! Well, in fact, it’s only World Book Day in the UK and Ireland, where they celebrate the day a little earlier than everyone else. The international World Book Day is on 23rd April. However, in the UK, that often falls during the Easter holidays. Schools in England get so excited about World Book Day that they don’t want to miss out, so they celebrate in March instead.
Many of my friends in the UK are teachers, and I love to see photos of the costumes they dress up in and the events which they organise at their schools. It’s amazing to see so much enthusiasm around reading!
I’m looking forward to seeing what my teacher friends in the UK do this year. World Book Day always gets me excited about the amazing literary events which we have here in Hong Kong. I’m especially excited about the International Literary Festival, which always has inspiring events for both kids and adults alike.
If you want to get involved in the International World Book Day this year, Hong Kong Reads has a great booklist to get children reading. In addition, the Hong Kong Public Libraries will organise a writing competition to celebrate the day; it’s on the theme of ‘My Library’.
