“It is so great to have my own book,” Elizabeth said, gazing proudly at her new creation.
After discovering some English classics, she has become captivated by the world of creative writing and continually seeks opportunities to write beyond her school curriculum.
Elizabeth’s journey has involved planning, writing, and editing like a professional. She crafted an adorable quokka character with a unique backstory and it brings me joy to hear her say that this may be just the first book in a series.
I believe that reading and writing are far more important than grammar for budding students of English. While grammar is certainly a foundational skill, interest and engagement with stories and creative tasks can really ignite a student’s passion for language. When students immerse themselves in reading and creative writing, they develop their voice and imagination, which ultimately fosters a deeper connection to the subject. In Elizabeth’s case I believe that creativity and a love for literature will prove to be the foundation of lifelong learning. I look forward to reading more of Elizabeth’s quirky and captivating storybooks!
